GED Preparation

Offered in partnership with LCCC.   Day classes at CCTI Adult Education Center.  Evening classes available in Jim Thorpe and Lehighton.  Inmates of the Carbon County Prison in Nesquehoning are also eligible for instruction while incarcerated.
 

ESL(English as a Second Language)/Civics
In partnership with LCCC, this program is designed for non-native speakers of English to improve their reading and writing skills in English as well as study for their citizenship test.  The student will be able to communicate better at work and/or in their child's school.

Family Literacy Program
In partnership with Carbon County Head Start, Carbon County daycares and local elementary schools, this program, through the Department of Education, is designed to assist residents of Carbon County become better trained for the job market and learn what is expected of their children in school.  Parents attend classes in literacy enrichment, or ABE/GED, parent/child activities and parenting programs.  Parents are also expected to work with their children at home and in school.

Free career development, guidance and financial aide for single parents, displaced homemakers, single pregnant women and individuals interested in non-traditional vocational-technical education.   We can assist these individuals in finding non-traditional jobs (to gender) or occupational training programs that will enable them to support themselves and their families.  Vocational assessment, career counseling and planning, job readiness/job search skills, job placement assistance as well as financial assistance with transportation, childcare and tuition are available.
