Compliance, medical practice and ethics, medical practice and the law, office
procedures, electronic health records, patients and medical records management, health and accident
insurance, credit and collections, basic diagnostic coding, basic procedural
coding, computer applications, medical terminology, anatomy, pharmacology, CPR
and hands-on experience in the medical field.
*National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
certification testing to become a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA)
and Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist (CEHRS)will be arranged for successful completers of this program.
CERTIFIED BILLING AND CODING SPECIALIST (CBCS*)

(Prerequisite:
Successful completion of CCTI Medical Administrative Assistant or Medical
Terminology Program, a similar medical administrative assistant program OR
current experience in a medical office or hospital medical records department
for 2 or more years.)
The focus of
this 210-hour program is learning the coding rules for Procedural Coding (CPT
and Level 2 HCPCS), Diagnostic Coding (ICD-9-CM) and applying the rules to code
patient services. The program also includes legal guidelines for medical
billing and coding procedures and medical records, third party reimbursement,
insurance claims, and hands-on experience in the medical field. *National
Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification testing to become a Certified
Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) will be arranged following successful
completers of this program.

This 30-hour program is designed to meet the
needs of students beginning their study of medical terminology. Students will
learn the basic elements, or word parts, that form most medical terms. This
course satisfies the prerequisite for Certified Billing and Coding Specialist.
