Introduction to Precision Machine Technology
Monday and Tuesday

February 13 - April 24, 2102 -

$550 + $50 Lab Fees
This course is intended to familiarize the student with fundamental machine shop practices for an entry-level position. It will include basic set-up and operation of various machines, surface grinders, drill presses, etc. Related math, blue print reading, layout, bench work, and safety rules. Students will receive a certificate of completion and a list of master competencies. Entry-level jobs may be milling and planning, set-up operators, lathe and turning machine, tool setters.
 

Basic Precision Machine Technology

4,050 + $100 Lab Fees
This is a comprehensive 450 hour course to help prepare for the NIMS certification. The student will work from blueprints to make tools and parts from brass, aluminum, steel and plastics. Although hand tools and manually operated machinery are a large part of the curriculum, newly acquired computer controlled machines identical to those found in industry are also a part of the training. Students will receive a certificate, a mastery of competencies certification and level I skills toward the NIMS Certification. Students who complete this program could qualify for work as a machine tool operator, computerized machine operator or a machinist helper.  Students will attend class for 25 hours a week in both a classroom and lab/shop setting.

Advanced Precision Machine Technology
(Prerequisite: A basic precision machine course or 1 year experience as a machinist assistant.)

$3,375 + $100 Lab Fees

Student will be prepared to take the NIMS test. Complex setups on lathe, drill press, milling machines, CNC, etc. and quality control inspection.  375-hour program.

This 825-hour program combines beginner and advanced Precision Machine Technology.
